A total of 97 percent of public works in Guanajuato and services related to it, contracted by the Ministry of Infrastructure, Connectivity and Mobility –SICOM- during 2022, were made by companies and constructors from Guanajuato, reported the head of this agency, Tarcisio Rodriguez Martinez.
The State official pointed out that, from January 1 to December 28, 387 contracts were assigned in the different modalities by the agency, of which 377 were for local companies for a total of more than 1,838’851,000 pesos.
Rodriguez said that only 10 contracts were awarded to foreign companies, due to the specialty required for the requested work.
Rodriguez Martinez reported that the investment in public works actions and services related to it, contracted by SICOM in the year ending was for more than 1 thousand 903 million 722 thousand pesos.
He stressed that the issue of dispersion is also important, since participation is given to a greater number of construction companies, since the 387 contracts were assigned to 302 companies.
During the signing of the “More Works for Guanajuato” Agreement, held on December 19, the Governor of the State, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, noted the importance of having Guanajuato companies make the Public Works, since this is a counter-cyclical measure when there is a crisis.
The Official added that when a company from Guanajuato does a public work, it activates 40 or more branches of the economy, including local labor and even the people who come to sell food to the workers.
Rodriguez Martinez pointed out that with the “More Works for Guanajuato” program, Guanajuato companies are further promoted, so that they are the ones that do the work. “There is no point in having resources for public works if companies from Guanajuato do not have the possibilities to carry out these works”, he said.
