UNAM and INAEBA students rebuild the social fabric through education as they complete their social services
Leon/Gto News
The Institute for Adult Literacy and Basic Education -INAEBA- and the National School of Higher Studies -ENES- Leon, of the UNAM, have joined forces in an effort to transform the social fabric, providing basic education to people with education gaps.
This joint work not only offers education opportunities, but also strengthens community ties and improves the quality of life of the beneficiaries.
Through collaboration with students who are doing their social service, INAEBA has made it easier for people like Juan Diego Mares, a 15-year-old who managed to finish high school motivated by his father, Armando Mares, 45, to obtain primary and secondary school certificates. Both, with the support of Maria Jose Ramirez, a student of Intercultural Development and Management at ENES Leon UNAM, have seen a positive change in their lives thanks to education.
“I feel very proud, both of myself and of my dad, because we achieved it together”, said Juan Diego.
Armando Mares, who dropped out of school at an early age to take on family responsibilities, also earned his high school diploma. “Before, I couldn’t get good jobs because I hadn’t finished high school. Thanks to INAEBA and the students at UNAM, I now have better job opportunities. This has changed my life”.
The story of Juan Diego and Armando reflects how education not only transforms individual lives, but also strengthens the family and community structure.
Maria Jose Ramirez, who supported both of them during their process, comments: “This social service has given me a very different view of reality. There are many people, young and old, who did not have the opportunity to study, and we are here to motivate them and support them to continue improving”.
INAEBA invites students interested in performing their social service to join this noble cause.
