Guanajuato consolidates its position as a benchmark in educational robotics with the celebration of the First Lego League regional event, 2024-2025 season, “Submerged.” 

This edition of the tournament brought together elementary and secondary school students from the states of Aguascalientes, Zacatecas, San Luis Potosi, and Guanajuato, who demonstrated their talent in science and technology.

The Guanajuato teams that qualified for the national tournament, to be held on April 5 in Mexico City are:

  • Tritons in Action, from Guadalupe Victoria Elementary School (Dolores Hidalgo)
  • Titans, from Secondary School No. 38 (Salamanca)
  • Tecnolions, from the Guanajuato Azteca Talent School (Leon)
  • Queens, from Alfonso Reyes High School (Salvatierra)
  • Knowmads, from Francisco I. Madero Elementary School (Acambaro)

The event took place at the Purisima del Rincon Campus of the National Institute of Technology of Mexico, where teams from different States participated in both virtual and in-person competitions, supervised by judges certified by First Lego League Mexico.

In the First Lego League Explore category, aimed at lower primary school, the winning teams are:

  • Challenge Solution Award: Tritons in Action (Dolores Hidalgo)
  • Poster Award: Xplor DAS, David Alfaro Siqueiros Elementary School (Irapuato)
  • Model Award: Galacticos, Leona Vicario Elementary School (Silao)

In the First Lego League Challenge category, aimed at upper primary and secondary school, the outstanding teams are:

  • Knowmads, from Francisco I. Madero Elementary School (Acambaro)
  • Titans, from Secondary School No. 38 (Salamanca)
  • Tecnolions, from the Guanajuato Azteca Talent School (Leon)
  • Queens, from Alfonso Reyes High School (Salvatierra)

In total, eight teams participated in the Explore mode (two virtual and six in-person) and eighteen in the Challenge mode (two virtual and sixteen in-person).

Guadalupe Valenzuela Rios, Undersecretary of Basic Education, representing the Secretary of Education of Guanajuato, Luis Ignacio Sanchez Gomez, noted the education community’s commitment to robotics and its impact on students’ academic development.

Valenzuela emphasized the importance of fostering critical and mathematical skills from an early age, as well as the fundamental role of families in this process.

Corina Vanessa Munoz Rodriguez, from the Leon Talent School, noted that robotics keeps students’ thinking active and promotes creativity in education projects.

Ignacio Daniel Salazar Duran, head of First Lego League Mexico, emphasized that this is the league’s first official event in Guanajuato and that more than 1,500 education centers across Mexico are currently participating in this initiative, benefiting nearly 90,000 elementary school children.

With this event, the Secretary  of Education of Guanajuato reaffirms its commitment to innovation in education.
