SSG offers specialized services for patients with diabetes mellitus and hypertension without eligibility

The Ministry of Health of Guanajuato urges the population that does not enjoy the right to IMSS and ISSSTE to come to one of the 3 Medical Specialty Units in Chronic Diseases -UNEMEs EC- in Irapuato, Celaya and Leon.

In these units, comprehensive care is offered to patients with chronic non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and hypertension, reported the Secretary of Health of Guanajuato, Daniel Diaz Martinez.

Those interested should go to the nearest Health Center to receive first-line care and later be referred to one of the three specialized units.

They play a relevant role in integrating prevention actions, care and training for Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases -NCCD-, particularly type 2 diabetes mellitus, high blood pressure, obesity and dyslipidemia.

Diaz Martinez added that these units offer the service of detection and control of diabetes mellitus, high blood pressure, obesity and dyslipidemia, treat complications, control, and medical consultations.

Application of the nursing process like:

• Individualized care plan, nutrition counseling, psychological care, and field work activities in schools, workplaces and detection modules

In the UNEMEs EC the services patients receive are:

The comprehensive evaluation

• The education of the patients about their health
• The identification of treatment goals
• The design of long-term follow-up schemes
• The effective and personalized prescription of nutrition and physical activity programs
• The identification of barriers to achieving adherence, inclusion of the family and pharmacological treatment of diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity and dyslipidemia
• Timely detection of complications

Interventions include:

• The participation of a multidisciplinary group (internist or integralist doctor, nurse, nutritionist, psychologist and social worker)
• The use of educational materials, participation in schools and workplaces
• The development of mutual aid groups
