SSG reinforces epidemiological surveillance against diseases such as Covid 19 and influenza

The Gto Health System strengthened epidemiological surveillance in the presence of Covid 19 and seasonal influenza.

Edgardo Alfredo Rodriguez Barba, State Coordinator of Epidemiological Emergencies, Disasters and Cholera, reported that an analysis of cases of respiratory diseases is done more precisely in this season.

“There is an increase in cases due to respiratory diseases during the season and we know well that Covid 19 health emergency is over”, said Rodriguez.

The Official said that in the last 2022-2023 season, the H3N2 influenza dominated and currently the predominant flu is H1N1.

Rodriguez Barba insisted that people must be immediately cared for in the presence of any respiratory condition so that the active infectious agent is identified and described and given correct treatment and thus avoid the complications of this type of disease.

The health Official made a careful call to the population that the next 3 weeks are those that have historically shown a fairly significant increase, the institution advices for the population to wear a face-mask indoors, and observe other health protection actions like washing hands with soap and water or with gel alcohol.

Older people over 60 years of age, children under 5 years of age and pregnant women must be vaccinated against influenza, which is essential to reduce serious cases. The vaccine does not prevent the disease. These are other confusions that people have. It prevents them from having serious symptoms.

Today in Guanajuato there is one death registered this season due to influenza. Rodriguez anticipated that epidemiological week number 1 to 5 is when there is an increase in case notifications; therefore, they are calling the population to go to their health unit in the Gto Health System.

The institution, said Rodriguez, has a highly trained staff to offer correct care and precise management according to the disease that people present and not self-medicate. The main recommendation for girls, boys and adolescents who return to the classroom is if they feel sick or have any symptoms, do not go to school, it is better to go to a medical unit so that a correct diagnosis is made.
