The calendar includes celebrations for the 200 years of Guanajuato as a Free and Sovereign State

“I want to congratulate the Secretary of Education and sections 13 and 45 of the National Union of Education Workers for this teamwork, it is unique nationwide, this calendar signing is an example and we should continue to keep this way”, said Governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo, during the signing of the School Calendar for the 2023-2024 Cycle.
The calendar establishes 190 working days for public and private schools in the State of Guanajuato, as well as 195 days for the teacher training schools.
The calendar includes dates with the celebrations for the 200 years of Guanajuato as a Free and Sovereign State.
“This signature signifies the commitment we make to society and to students to bring the education of students to a successful conclusion; our commitment to do everything we can to meet the academic and social objectives contained in the educational program,” said the Governor.
Rodriguez Vallejo urged all those who provide their service to education, to work with no limit and not forget that what they offer is for the formation of new generations that are the present and the future of Guanajuato and of Mexico.
“I want you to know that we are not going to leave our students without their textbooks; and the competent authorities will tell us what proceeds”, said the Governor.
“If we stick together, as we have done up to now, we will have a successful and beneficial school year for the girls and boys, which in the end, is what we all want,” said the State Executive.
Rodriguez Vallejo thanked the adherence of the educational sector to the celebration of the 200 years of Guanajuato as a Free and Sovereign State with the inclusion of key dates for the commemoration of this event.
“We are going to give all the seriousness and all the diffusion to these festivities, because they are part of the identity and pride of being Guanajuatenses,” said the State Executive.
The suspension of school activities for students and teachers will be on:
- November 2 and 20, 2023
- December 25
- January 1, 2024
- February 5
- March 18
- May 1 and 15
Two holiday periods are established:
- Winter from December 18, to December 29, 2023
- Easter from March 25 to April 5, 2024
For basic education schools:
- Classes start on August 28, 2023
- The cycle ends on July 15, 2024
- For Normal Education it will be until July 18
Pre-registration period:
- Pre-school, first grade of primary and secondary school for the 2024-2025 school year is from February 1 to 15, 2024
Othe activities in the Calendar:
- Eight ordinary sessions of the School Technical Council
- An Intensive Continuous Training Workshop for Teachers, before the start of the school year, from August 21 to 25, 2023
- Another workshop that includes Principals from January 2 to 4, 2024, and one from July 17 to 20, 2024
- The training for teachers will be permanent throughout the school year
- Three days of administrative activities are indicated, which include November 17, 2023, March 15, and July 12, 2024
The 200 years of sovereignty:
- The celebrations of the 200 years of Guanajuato:
- November 7, for the solemn installation of the Constituent Congress in 1823
- December 20, for the Proclamation of Guanajuato as a Free and Sovereign State in the same year
- January 31, for the formal adherence of the State to Mexican federalism as a free and sovereign federative State
- March 25 as the conformation of the State Congress
- May 10, for the swearing in of the first constitutional governor
- May 8 for the decree of appointment as Governor
- June 28 for the formation of the Judiciary, all in 1824
