Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo inaugurated the new electrical transformer production plant of the company Wasion MX, located in the Guanajuato Industrial Center in Irapuato.
“The opening of this new world-class plant on our land, in addition to being a clear and strong message of trust in Guanajuato, is a powerful boost to the national electricity industry,” said the State Governor.
This plant will significantly contribute to the modernization of the country’s electrical infrastructure, enabling the local manufacture of electrical transformers, equipment that was previously imported.
The Governor said that domestic production of these components will reduce costs, delivery times, and technological dependence, while strengthening the responsiveness of the Mexican electric system.
Wasion Energy President Xijun Feng committed to increase technology exchanges between China and Mexico to take advantage of opportunities in energy innovation, while also promoting specialized technical training for its employees.
“We will generate nearly 1,000 quality jobs for the local community and train local technical talent to strengthen service capabilities,” said the President of Wasion Energy.
This new facility represents an investment of $7.3 million and will generate 250 direct jobs, of which 150 will be held by men and 100 by women.
Wasion MX also inaugurated the expansion of its plant in the Puerto Interior in Silao. With an additional investment of $4.5 million, this expansion will create 250 new jobs.
As of yesterday, Wasion MX in Silao reached the production of 8 million transformers.
This plant will fulfill a contract with the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) for the manufacture of one million electric meters. Currently, nine out of every ten electric meters installed in Mexico are produced by Wasion.
With these openings, the Chinese company specializing in smart energy solutions consolidates its presence in Guanajuato.
“You have undoubtedly arrived at the best investment destination in Mexico, because in Guanajuato, hand in hand with our municipal governments, the Government of the People generates stability, legality, clear rules, continuity in public policies, and the rule of law is respected here,” said Libia Dennise.
Currently, Guanajuato is home to 11 Chinese-owned companies, which together have invested $964.8 million and created more than 6,000 jobs in sectors such as automotive, new technologies, metalworking, and electricity.
During the first eight months of the People’s Government, Guanajuato has implemented 23 new investment projects representing $2.352 billion and the creation of more than 7,000 formal jobs.
