Guanajuato takes firm steps in the reconversion towards electro-mobility in the Automotive Cluster

Governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, inaugurated the new facilities of the Metalsa company, a plant in which the chassis for the next generation of the Tacoma truck, from the Toyota assembly company, will be manufactured in Apaseo El Grande.
“I am very pleased to see how these projects are consolidated. We were here in February to lay the corner stone and today we come to this great company that is investing 180 million dollars, which add to the 6.5 billion dollars that we have announced in this six-year term, exceeding the goal and we still have more than a year left. ”, said the Governor.
This new Metalsa plant is located within the facilities of the Toyota Industrial Park, where Grupo Proeza invested 180 million dollars to create 1,000 new jobs and manufacture 308,000 chassis per year.
With Metalsa, Toyota advances in its electrification strategy, announced last June by Governor Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, during his tour of Japan.
Toyota committed to invest 328 million dollars to adapt its production processes for the new hybrid model of the Tacoma pickup truck, for the North American market.
The new facilities are the first Metalsa plant with zero emissions from mobile equipment, that is, 100 percent of material handling is with electrical equipment and will have a total area of 63,000 square meters.
It was on February 23, 2022 when the corner stone of the new Metalsa plant was laid, a company to which Governor Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo called to work with the social programs of the Government of Guanajuato.
“Make yours the programs that the State Government has, we go beyond making money in this alliance, we promote having products and generating jobs; we have to generate a real change with the transformation, so that you have better collaborators and we have better citizens”, expressed Rodriguez Vallejo.
This will be the only plant of the first level suppliers (Mexican Tier 1) of automotive structures outside the North of Mexico and was specially built to supply the chassis of the next generation of the Tacoma model armed in Guanajuato and Baja California.
