The United States embassy in Mexico recognized the Government of Guanajuato for the assistance and help it provides to the consulate of that country in San Miguel de Allende.
Erika Montes, consular agent of that diplomatic representation, said that this recognition is due to the timely attention that the Secretary for Migrants and International Liaison provides to the American community living in Mexico and to Guanajuato residents with dual nationality.
“The San Miguel de Allende office receives the assistance of the Secretary for Migration and its team as a whole, where we could not get ahead if it were not for the collaboration of all of them, that is something very important in order to go further”, said Montes.
The agent said that in addition to this work, a link was established to be able to provide services more quickly and easily.
Among the procedures they do are:
- Passport Service
- Notary Service
- Special services for Americans
- Legal and administrative procedures
- Negotiations for repatriations in case of death
Juan Hernandez, Secretary for Migrants and International Liaison said that in the Secretary he leads, the instruction of Governor Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo is clear and precise, to serve, dignify and integrate the Guanajuato and foreign migrant community.
“I believe that it is a greatness that crosses borders and goes to the other side, because the work of these two nations is to dignify and integrate these wonderful people who, as Consul Erika has said, are sometimes also vulnerable. In the State government we feel very grateful to receive this recognition”, said Juan Hernandez.
Hernandez said that since the creation of the Migrant Secretary there has always been a positive conversation with all those involved in this area, with which the common goal is to serve people who need it in a warm and cordial manner.
They also work, said Hernandez, to open opportunities to older adults who want to see their relatives in the neighboring country in the north.
