The Solis-Leon Aqueduct construction project is moving forward, and Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo met with federal and municipal authorities to monitor the project, which will begin construction of the first 10 kilometers in 2025.

“Today we are taking a very important step toward a very important project for our State: the Solis Dam Aqueduct. We expect to begin construction of the first 10 kilometers this year, and from there we will continue to guarantee this fundamental human right to water for the people of Guanajuato,” said Governor Libia Dennise.

Present at this meeting were General Salvador Fernando Cervantes Loza, Director General of Engineers of the Secretary of National Defense, and Felipe Zatarain Mendoza, Deputy Director General of Drinking Water, Sewage, and Sanitation of the National Water Commission (CONAGUA).

“Today we had a very productive meeting with the mayors of the ten municipalities through which the aqueduct will pass. Also present at this meeting were the civil engineer generals from the Secretary of Defense who are carrying out this project, as well as the people of CONAGUA,” said the Governor.

Today’s meeting was held in the 12th Military Region, in Irapuato, as a follow-up to the project for the construction of this aqueduct, which will be 200 kilometers long and will solve the problem of drinking water supply for the State of Guanajuato.

This project primarily covers the municipalities of Celaya, Irapuato, Leon, Silao, Villagran, Tarimoro, Salamanca, Cortazar, Salvatierra, and Acambaro.

This hydraulic project will require an investment of 15 billion pesos, of which 50 percent will be provided by the Federal Government, as it is part of the 2024-2030 National Water Plan. The remaining resources will be provided by the State Government and the Municipalities.
