The Government of Guanajuato reaffirms its commitment to the migrant population by addressing the needs of Guanajuato, even outside our borders.
The Governor, Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo, attended the Valentine’s Day celebration at Casa Guanajuato Dallas-Mexico, where he delivered dual nationality certificates to children of Guanajuato migrants.
This meeting was organized this February 19 by Casa Guanajuato Dallas-Mexico in order to raise funds to renovate the parking lot and build new classrooms to teach English and computer classes.
“I have always said that the State Government is where the people of Guanajuat are. Guanajuato has a large migrant community in the United States. They are a vital force that is driving progress not only in their communities of origin, but in all of Guanajuato”, said Rodriguez Vallejo.
“Men and women, who, after conquering the American dream, have left a path of development and progress for this great nation of the United States,” said the Governor.
This meeting was also attended by the former governors of Guanajuato: Carlos Medina Plascencia, Juan Carlos Romero Hicks, Héctor López Santillana, Miguel Márquez Márquez and Vicente Fox Quesada; in addition to Francisco de la Torre Galindo, General Consul of Mexico in Texas.
Symbolically, the Governor delivered, by the Civil Registry of the State of Guanajuato, 10 Dual Nationality certificates (out of a package of 108) to children of migrants from Guanajuato born in the USA.
“This, for the Guanajuato migrant community, is very important, because we support them with these procedures for free, and they are documents they need for other procedures such as the regularization of their immigration status or access to social programs,” said Diego Sinhue Rodríguez.
This document allows migrants from Guanajuato to prove their identity, name and nationality.
As part of this Valentine’s Day celebration, various cultural shows were performed, including the presentation of Soprano Syndy Gutiérrez.
Casa Guanajuato Dallas-Mexico is a non-profit organization at the service of the Dallas Fort Worth community, in Texas, United States, since September 18, 1994, thanks to a collaboration agreement between the house and the government of Guanajuato, in charge, at that time, of the Governor Carlos Medina Plascencia.
However, its origins go back to 1975, when the organization Compañeros Unidos de Ocampo emerged, something that had never been done in the United States and whose objective was to work in favor of Ocampo migrants, preserve their values, culture and traditions.
Since then, Casa Guanajuato has been presided over by Tereso Ortiz Alvarado, a migrant from Ocampo with a long history in Dallas, since 1971, when he first arrived in the United States.
Casa Guanajuato opened its doors with Educational, Sports, Cultural programs and management and representation of the Hispanic community before the State and Federal governments.
Currently the State Government in coordination with the migrant Guanajuatenses, have opened five Casas Guanajuato in Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles, North Carolina and Georgia, to issue birth, marriage or death certificates free of charge and offer other services.
