The Guanajuato Education Secretary, SEG, promotes technological education and innovation with the delivery of equipment and materials of the First Lego League project for the 2024-2025 season “Submerged”, to the Gabriela Mistral preschool in the municipality of Victoria and the Miguel Hidalgo elementary school in Cieneguilla, Tierra Blanca.
The First Lego League project is an education program that promotes STEAM learning (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics) through robotics and creativity, offering students tools and opportunities to explore their potential and ignite their passion for science and technology.
The deliveries were carried out at each school, as a starting point for their preparation for the 2024-2025 “Submerged” season, where students will participate, with the guidance of their teachers and the support of parents, under the theme of marine biodiversity, focused on generating environmental awareness.
Preschool students received materials and equipment to debut in the Discover category:
- A set of Lego pieces, assembly instructions, a work mat and a set of 6 Lego Duplo blocks
Meanwhile, elementary school students received everything they needed to continue standing out at the state and national levels in the Challenge and Explore categories:
- A set of LEGO pieces, assembly instructions, a work mat, and an engineering notebook for each category
By obtaining this equipment, students will be able to develop their skills in programming, design, creativity, teamwork and problem solving, as well as enrich the knowledge they already have, explore new resources and imagine the endless possibilities for developing their projects.
Hector Teodoro Montes Estrada, Regional Delegate II, spoke about the importance of integrating technology into education and expressed his gratitude to the directors and teachers who also have the role of team coaches, since with parents they make it possible for more and more students to become interested in STEAM areas, and therefore become future innovators and leaders in their environments.
Maria Teresa Jimenez Flores, a mother and member of the First Lego team committee at the Miguel Hidalgo elementary school in Cieneguilla, Tierra Blanca, said that it is satisfying to see her children become a better version of themselves, since by participating in these projects they acquire greater responsibility, initiative, self-esteem, time management, decision-making, and learning that will impact their education story.
