Guanajuato insists on its commitment to build a culture of peace, with the participation of society and government, said the Secretary of Government, Jesus Oviedo Herrera, at the closing of the First Meeting of Journalism for Peace.
“On behalf of the Governor, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, I thank SOIPAZ for developing these analysis, proposal and action events in Guanajuato to build messages of peace that generate better communities”, said Oviedo Herrera.
The Official noted that “for three days we have witnessed how journalists and opinion leaders in Guanajuato have contributed their vision for Latin America with the meetings of Voices for Peace and Periodismo por la Paz”.
“Stories, proposals and initiatives were heard that are aimed at all of us assuming from our sphere of responsibility the commitment to work together for peace”, said the Secretary of Government.
For the State Government, it is a clear objective to turn Guanajuato into the epicenter of messages of peace for Mexico and Ibero-America, in which the participation of society is essential, said the Official.
Oviedo highlighted that in these three days the workshops were attended by local and national journalists, as well as students, who have acquired new experiences in favor of peace.
Oviedo Herrera celebrated the recognition that the Organizing Committee of Voices for Peace granted during the 1st. Ibero-American Meeting of Journalism for Peace to colleagues with an important career in the written press, radio and television.
“My appreciation to each and every one of you, because you are an example to follow for your professionalism and dedication, always committed to society and to keep it informed,” he added.
The President of SOIPAZ, Jorge Robledo Vega was at the closing ceremony and after thanking the Governor of Guanajuato for supporting this event, recognized the work of the entire organizing committee.
“This will be the first forum of several, where the voices of journalists for peace in our country and in the different nations of Latin America come together,” he said.
On the last day of activities, the Peace Journalism Panel with a Perspective of Gender was held with the participation of the journalists:
- Gisela Orozco, Lucero Amador, Paulina Villegas, Jannet Lopez Ponce, and Gaby Montejano.
The Panel Guarantees for a Journalism Free of Violence was also held with the participation of journalists:
- Luis Miguel Gonzalez, Primitivo Ortega and Roberto Castaneda
