On Saturday, May 18, International Museum Day is commemorated and to celebrate it, the general public will be able to access for free the museums that are part of the State Institute of Culture and enjoy an extensive program of activities for the whole family.

Commented tours, including a one at night at the Hermenegildo Bustos Museum; Storytelling presentations and a family workshop in collaboration with 101 Museums, are part of the program prepared for the occasion in the museums of Guanajuato, Silao and Purisima del Rincon.

In Guanajuato you can visit the Museo del Pueblo, a facility located next to the University of Guanajuato. This museum has a collection of miniature crafts that belonged to and were donated by teacher Maria Teresa Pomar, as well as religious works from different periods and portraits made by the purisimense painter Hermenegildo Bustos.

In the imposing Plaza de la Paz is the Conde Rul Museum, which has an exhibit of the artistic traditions of China, which belonged to the Ming and Qing dynasties; also, you will be able to see an approach the photographic work of Manuel Leal, mostly recognized for his painting of Guanajuato traditions and legends. Here visitors will learn about another interesting facet of this outstanding character.

Then is the Palacio de los Poderes Museum with two temporary exhibits that address historical themes. First, the public will be able to learn about the photographic work of Mustafá, who dedicated himself to capturing images professionally and that today are part of the historical legacy of the people of Guanajuato, and to learn more about the original idea of ​​the creator of this space, the public will be able to delve into the architectural work of Cecil Louis Long.

The new proposals of the Randy Walz scholarship recipients can be enjoyed in the old building that belonged to the teachers Olga Costa and Jose Chavez Morado. Half a dozen young artists exhibit 18 thematic pieces such as: lithography, silkscreen, photography, oil on canvas and sculpture.

In this celebration you cannot miss the Casa Diego Rivera Museum, which within its walls houses temporary works by Uruguayan artists, an exhibit that was possible thanks to the collaboration with Uruguay’s embassy and through the “More World in Guanajuato” program by the name: “Walter Cross. Fifth dimension “and” Petrona Viera, an endless creation “, as well as the exhibit of local artists in the PAAG room and of course the genius of muralism, Diego Rivera, among his paintings and several of his drawings.

The celebration includes the Jose and Tomas Chavez Morado Museum, in Silao, where in addition to the permanent exhibit dedicated to these two great Guanajuato masters, the temporary exhibit dedicated to the painter Hilario Gomez Sanchez is presented.

Finally, the Hermenegildo Bustos Museum, in Purisima del Rincon, divides its exhibition rooms between the permanent exhibit dedicated to the brilliant artist after whom it is named and the temporary exhibits “Carlos Pellicer. From the Window” and “Petite Vincent”, by Erik Rivera.
