Guanajuato/Gto News
From Sunday, January 19 to Wednesday, January 22, temperatures are expected to drop to -5 and -10 °C in eleven municipalities in the state of Guanajuato.
Freezing rain is expected to fall on Tuesday, January 21 and Wednesday, January 22 in the northern part of Guanajuato, reported the State Coordination of Civil Protection of the Secretary of Security and Peace.
According to the forecast issued by the National Water Commission through the National Meteorological Service, cold front number 24 will cause extreme low temperatures mainly in:
- Ocampo, San Felipe, San Diego de la Union, San Luis de la Paz, Victoria, Xichu, Atarjea, Doctor Mora, Santa Catarina, San Jose Iturbide and Tierra Blanca
The Guanajuato State Civil Protection Coordination warns that extreme cold can cause damage to the health of the population through hypothermia, as well as to yard and corral animals that are not sheltered under a roof.
Likewise, pipe installations, vehicles and machinery exposed to the elements that are not properly protected can be affected; for example, pipes and water meters can burst if they freeze, as can roof tanks or tanks placed outdoors without protection.
Radiators in vehicles and machinery that do not contain the correct antifreeze may also be damaged.
