Walmart reaffirms its trust to invest in Guanajuato and promotes its development

Walmart Group consolidates its trust in Guanajuato, a State where it maintains 155 business units and thousands of jobs for Guanajuatense families, with the laying of the foundation stone of the second Aurrera Warehouse in Romita.
On behalf of Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, the head of the Secretary of Economy, Claudia Cristina Villasenor Aguilar, thanked the corporation for its trust in Guanajuato and its people by continuing with expansion projects.
“What we’re celebrating today isn’t just the construction of a store: it’s bringing development to municipalities in every corner of Guanajuato, balancing the State’s economy and strengthening social peace through decent jobs,” said Villasenor.
In the current State administration, the $550 million investment in the Walmart Distribution Center (CEDIS) in Silao stands out, the groundbreaking was laid in October 2024, positioning Guanajuato as a strategic logistics hub.
The construction of this new supermarket in Romita represents an investment of 90 million pesos and 75 new direct jobs and it adds to Walmart’s presence in Guanajuato.
Walmart trusts in Guanajuato:
- The company operates 69 Bodega Aurrera Express, 33 Bodega Aurrera, 28 Mi Bodega Aurrera, five Sam’s Clubs, 17 Walmart Supercenters and three Walmart Express
The multinational, considered one of Mexico’s largest employers with more than 230,000 employees, half of them women, reinforces its commitment to the economy and prosperity of the region.
In line with its Industrial Connection policy, the company supports domestic suppliers. Nearly 83% of the products on its shelves come from Mexican suppliers, which boosts Guanajuato’s industry and strengthens the participation of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).
These types of projects balance the State’s economy and strengthen social cohesion by creating decent employment. Thus, Walmart and Guanajuato reaffirm a strategic partnership aimed at shared prosperity and sustainable development.
