The State Public Security Secretary, through the State Civil Protection Coordination, reports that during the afternoon of Tuesday, the Forest Fire in the Biosphere Reserve of the Sierra Gorda was completely extinguished, the fire was reported to have started on May 5 of this year.
Once the liquidation and prevention monitoring for possible reactivation of heat points has been done and according to the evaluation of the National Forestry Commission, the phased demobilization of personnel from the fire area to the Operations Center begins.
During the afternoon of Tuesday, at 5:30 p.m., the entire operational forces of combatants were concentrated for the final evaluation and closure of activities in the Operations Center, as described below:
- Fire Fighting, Control and Liquidation:
- Control: 100 percent
- Liquidation: 100 percent
Also, there are estimates that the affected area is 849 hectares, the majority being oak, pine and scrub.
During the combat, control and extinction tasks, the various brigades were formed by:
- National Forestry Commission
- Secretary of National Defense
- National Guard
- State Coordination of Civil Protection
- Secretary of the Environment and Territorial Planning
- Municipal Coordination of Civil Protection
- Volunteer Groups
With the effort, collaboration and coordination of all the institutions that were part of the brigades, as well as the support of citizens through the donation of water and food, the State Public Security Secretary through the State Civil Protection Coordination, confirms complete control and extinction of the fire.
