The Celebrations Commission meets for the 200 Years of Guanajuato as a Free and Sovereign Federative State

Guanajuato will have a state anthem that will identify the people of Guanajuato

“Guanajuato has always been the protagonist of the most important moments of our country, in the past and present”, said the Governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo.

The Governor led the renewal ceremony of the Symbolic Fire of Independence, in the Heroes’ Enclosure at the Regional Museum of Guanajuato Alhondiga de Granaditas, as part of the Celebrations for the 200 Years of Guanajuato as a Federative, Free and Sovereign State.

This ceremony commemorates the battle of the Insurgent Army when it took the city of Guanajuato on September 28, 1810; El Fuego is in memory of the insurgents for their fight to consolidate Mexico as an independent nation.

This Fire was fueled on December 20, 1823, when Guanajuato was proclaimed a Free and Sovereign State, an event of which this year marks the first 200 years.

“We are going to permeate society with the enthusiasm and optimism that commemorating Guanajuato as a free and sovereign State generates in us.

“We enter the final stretch on December 20, the date decreed to commemorate this 2023, the 200 years of Guanajuato as a Free and Sovereign Federative State; we are going to have a celebration at the level of what the people of our State deserve and at the level that the State, Cradle of Independence and Cradle of Federalism of Mexico, deserves,” said the Governor.

In the Session, the Governor recognized the work of the deputies of the 65th Legislature of the State Congress for the creation of the new Law of the Emblem, Flag and Anthem of the State of Guanajuato, and precisely in this Session, it was approved the call for the contest to create the Anthem of Guanajuato.

“The space is opened for composers, writers, musicians and creative people who are Guanajuatense by birth, by descent or residents in the state of Guanajuato to participate,” said the Governor.

The Guanajuato Anthem must be established as an official symbol of identity; contain the civic values, union, respect and culture of the people of Guanajuato.

It must ennoble and acclaim Guanajuato as a federative State, considering elements such as its geography, territory, its heroes, heroines, its ideals, its libertarian conquests and democratic consciousness; in addition to a vision of the future that strengthens the feeling of belonging and the identity of Guanajuato.

“I am convinced that the result of this process will be a watershed in the way of contributing to the promotion of Guanajuato identity and pride”, said Rodriguez Vallejo.

“It will be an element to exalt our beloved Guanajuato, its people, its values, its culture and traditions and its vision of the future,” said the Governor.
