Leon/Gto News
The Institute of Literacy and Basic Education for Adults -INAEBA-, in coordination with the Public Security Secretary of Leon, has managed to benefit more than 100 people who, after committing traffic violations, decided to complete their basic education.
This program is aimed at people with educational gaps who have been ticketed. Through the Multidisciplinary Coordination, offenders are identified and offered the opportunity to commute their fine by enrolling free of charge in INAEBA ‘s education programs. In addition to providing them with guidance on the importance of education, they are given a guide so that they can advance in literacy in the primary or secondary levels.
“This is the best literacy institute in Guanajuato and you are graduates of it. Thank you very much for trusting INAEBA . Thanks to the collaboration with the municipality and to all those who made this possible, we can change our environment. Education opens our eyes, it gives us another opportunity. If we accept it, we can improve our environment. We are committed to working hand in hand with the authorities to make Guanajuato a better place for everyone, for you and your children”, said Jose Jesus Correa Ramirez, the general director of INAEBA during the second delivery of certificates to the offenders who completed their courses.
Marino Negrete Padron, one of the offenders who chose to finish primary and secondary school instead of paying his fine, expressed his gratitude: “I never imagined that, at 51 years of age, I would receive this opportunity. I am very grateful, not only personally, but also on behalf of my family and friends who motivated me to excel. I invite all adults who wish to grow as individuals to take advantage of these programs.”
Jorge Guillén Rico, Secretary of Security, Prevention and Citizen Protection of León, said that, “This effort is the result of a valuable agreement between the civic courts and INAEBA. Not only do we facilitate the reintegration of these people into society, but we also promote the value of education as a tool for change and personal improvement.”
“This has been a team effort. We thank INAEBA for collaborating with the municipality, as these certificates help change people’s lives, giving them hope to continue preparing themselves and becoming better”, said Mayor of Leon, Alejandra Gutierrez Campos.
Since May 24, nearly 150 young and adult offenders have opted to commute their fines or administrative violations in exchange for completing their basic education with INAEBA programs.
