According to the latest report of the National Survey of Occupation and Employment (ENOE) of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), Guanajuato registered an unemployment rate of 2.9%. , the lowest in the last 5 years, a rate that is below the national average, which was 3.2%
This indicator demonstrates the dynamism of the state’s labor market and its economic recovery after the Covid 19 health emergency.
During the second quarter of the year, the Economically Active Population (EAP) of the state of Guanajuato was over:
- 2 million 828 thousand people
- More than 2 million 745 thousand were employed
Ramon Alfaro Gomez, Secretary of Sustainable Economic Development (SDES), highlighted that the economic policy of the current administration led by Governor Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, is focused on creating a competitive environment for the development of the local economy, by applying strategies to the attraction of investments, the strengthening of micro, small and medium enterprises and the generation of employment.
Through the different programs and actions of the State Government for the detonation and preservation of jobs, the conditions that contribute to the industrial stability that Guanajuato has registered in recent years are generated.
The States with the lowest unemployment are Oaxaca, Guerrero, Michoacan and Yucatan with unemployment rates below 2%.
In absolute terms, the number of unemployed people in Guanajuato decreased by more than 74 thousand 100 people, which is equivalent to 47.2%.
SDES works to create the conditions that generate a competitive environment, in order to trigger the generation and protection of employment sources, and improve the quality of life of Guanajuato residents.
