‘El Rey’ Music Festival is presented

Guanajuato presents in Mexico City “El Rey” Festival that will include music, tradition and wine and the legacy of Jose Alfredo Jimenez

Mexico City hosted the official presentation of “El Rey” Festival, an event that pays tribute to the cultural and musical legacy of Jose Alfredo Jimenez, an icon of Mexican music.

The press conference brought together national media, promoters, artists, and special guests, who learned about the artistic offer and activities that will be held in Guanajuato during the festival.

The presentation took place in the nation’s capital with the goal of showcasing the festival and establishing it as a national benchmark for regional music, gastronomy, and wine. During the event, the festival’s importance for promoting tourism in Guanajuato was emphasized, as it will attract visitors from different states, generate economic benefits, and strengthen the cultural identity that distinguishes Guanajuato.

One of the most significant moments was the presence of Paloma Jimenez, daughter of Jose Alfredo Jimenez, who expressed her pride in the tribute to her father and emphasized the enduring relevance of his music, which continues to transcend generations. Paloma noted that “El Rey” not only honors the composer’s career but also celebrates the roots of Mexican music and the affection of the public that keeps his legacy alive.

This year, the goal is to significantly surpass last year’s results, when the festival drew 13,000 attendees and generated over 11.7 million pesos in economic activity in Dolores Hidalgo and surrounding municipalities.

The artistic program promises a stage brimming with talent. Among the confirmed performers are:

• El Fantasma, Ana Cirre, Mariachi Gamma 1000, and Aranza

The artists, each in their own style, will pay tribute to the great singer-songwriter from Guanajuato. Their performances, combined with the festival’s cultural atmosphere, will position Guanajuato as a destination that embraces its traditions and promotes regional Mexican music on the national stage.

In the presentation, wine culture also took center stage. Ramon Velez, director of the Grape and Wine Association, announced the launch of a special label created in honor of Jose Alfredo Jimenez: “Cuna del Rey” (Cradle of the King), in an edition that will celebrate Guanajuato’s winemaking tradition and add a sensory experience to the festival, combining music, gastronomy, and local products.

With this presentation in Mexico City, “El Rey” Festival of Music, Tradition and Wine expands its borders and prepares the way to receive thousands of attendees who, to the rhythm of the music of Jose Alfredo Jimenez, will live an experience full of pride, talent and Guanajuatense culture.
