Education and family, a tool to build peace

The Secretary of education of Guanajuato called everyone to educate with vaues from the family and from the school

“Education and the family are a powerful tool to build peace”, said Jorge Enrique Hernandez Meza, Secretary of Education of Guanajuato, during his participation in the Panel “Agents of Peace for Ibero-America”, in the framework of the 1st Ibero-American Meeting of Voices for Peace.

“Let’s educate with a permanent and necessary correlation between community, family and school, and we must agree and tune in to talk about the same values, ethics, civility; and parents like teachers and educators already tuned in, it will be much easier to talk about peace.

“In the central cells of families and in schools, the approach is very important, which is why it is necessary, jointly, to educate for inclusion, for diversity, to respect, respond with solidarity and support, it is a way of reconstructing what should be taught from childhood, to respect diversity, racial difference, language, etc. and with these types of elements, then I think we will be doing the right thing and educating for Peace”, said Hernandez Meza.

“The family will always be the first school and the school will be the second family, that is why we must look at the education system and have the responsibility of sharing what Guanajuato is doing, what is being done in Mexico, Latin America and Ibero-America”, said Hernandez.

The official said that education is the instrument that can definitely be a reference in a path of peace, that education makes a difference and that in Guanajuato public policies are being promoted, and, also, must be adapted to the extent that citizens develop and that they strengthen education and peace.
