Guanajuato strengthens its life sciences cluster by attracting global suppliers and diversifying its economy toward high-tech sectors

Guanajuato is advancing as an epicenter of life sciences and innovation as Domico Med-Device starts of operations, Domico is investing $3 million and will generate 90 highly specialized jobs.
The U.S.-based company will focus on manufacturing incubator components, particularly specialized cushions, and will complement its medical device development activity in Guanajuato.
Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo is strengthening the State’s economic diversification, and with the presence of the GTO Life Innovation & Technologies Medical Cluster, Guanajuato is consolidating its position as a key ecosystem for development.
The head of the Secretary of Economy, Claudia Cristina Villasenor Aguilar, noted the strategy of the Government of Guanajuato of exploring new sectors to diversify the local economy and open up opportunities for more specialized talent.
“Guanajuato is much more than the automotive or agroindustrial industries. The GTO Life Innovation & Technologies Medical Cluster makes us a leader in the development of medical devices and the advancement of health sciences; companies like Domico demonstrate that we are diversifying our economy with technology, innovation, and better-paid jobs,” said Villasenor.
The medical device sector is one of the fastest-growing in the world and represents an opportunity to reduce dependence on traditional industries.
From Guanajuato, Domico will strengthen domestic supply by reducing imports. Furthermore, its operations reflect a commitment to increased technical training.
The People’s Government, through the Secretary of Economy of Guanajuato, reaffirms its commitment to guaranteeing ideal conditions for the stability of national and international investment projects.
