Operations continue against the forest fire registered in the Sierra Gorda, on the limits of San Luis Potosi and Guanajuato

The State Public Security Secretary, through the State Civil Protection Coordination, reports that combat operations against the forest fire that is registered in the Sierra Gorda, in the limits of the States of San Luis Potosi and Guanajuato.
Despite the difficulties represented by the weather conditions with the presence of winds and of an extreme heat, as well as the drought and the orography of the land, it has been possible to make 30 percent progress in controlling the flames, with the brigades attacking the most intense heat points to reduce the spread of the fire.
In follow-up to the fire fighting efforts, an Operations Center was implemented in the El Camaron community in the municipality of Tierra Nueva, in the State of San Luis Potosi. For now, the State Coordination of Civil Protection of Guanajuato has established drone overflights for the analysis and evaluation of this fire in order to strengthen combat strategies.
This base is linked to the Operations Centers of the El Bagre community implemented by the Operations Center of the State Coordination of Civil Protection of Guanajuato, which has allowed optimization of coordination and communication in operations to combat the forest fire, as well as as with the State Coordination of Civil Protection of San Luis Potosí.
Through coordination with the National Forestry Commission in the state of San Luis Potosí and the Guanajuato delegation of the CNF itself, an operations strategy was established, considering three lines of fire fighting: Northeast, South and Northwest.
For this reason, water discharges were carried out on the line of fire in the territory of San Luis Potosí and in the state of Guanajuato, with the support of helicopters from the Ministry of the Navy and two private individuals.
This Friday, a Mexican Air Force helicopter joins the operations in coordination with the National Forestry Commission of the State of San Luis Potosí and the National Forestry Commission of the State of Guanajuato, with the purpose of carrying out water loads in the coordinates that are taken on land.
At the moment, a total of 264 elements from the state of Guanajuato confront the brigades of combatants of the forest fire that started last Sunday in the municipality of Santa María, in San Luis Potosi, and which spread towards the limits with Guanajuato, through the municipality of San Luis de la Paz.
With data provided by the National Forestry Commission, San Luis Potosi delegation, it is recorded that the fire has reached an area of four thousand hectares. Meanwhile, in Guanajuato, the state delegation of the Forestry Commission registers an impact of 590 hectares in territory of Guanajuato.
