The People’s Government, through the Secretary of Economy, celebrated the XXVIII edition of the State Competition to the Artisan Creativity Award, in recognition of the talent of the master artisans of Guanajuato.
Under the leadership of Governor Libia Denisse Garcia Munoz Ledo, the development of the State’s traditional sectors, such as handicrafts, is being promoted with the aim of positioning them as unique, high-quality products with added value.
Claudia Cristina Villasenor Aguilar, head of the Secretary of Economy, reiterated the State Government’s commitment to preserve artisanal traditions, as well as promote innovation in designs that reflect the cultural richness of Guanajuato.
“We seek to motivate each artisan, and above all, to awaken in new generations the passion to continue this ancestral work that has been passed down from generation to generation, evolving and innovating, but maintaining our roots. Since 1997, this contest has been more than a competition; it is a strategy to preserve our crafts, recognize talent, and position Guanajuato as a benchmark for handmade art,” he stated.
The Artisanal Creativity Award is a strategy that recognizes the work and passion of those who transform materials into unique pieces that tell stories. The exhibition and sale of these creations allow Guanajuato’s talent to transcend borders and reach a wider audience.
The participating pieces will be on display and for sale until December 12 at the Casa de las Artesanias, Plaza de la Paz No. 14. The space is open to local visitors and tourists, who can admire and purchase pieces that combine tradition and creativity, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
This competition is a strategy to strengthen the artisan sector in Guanajuato, promoting the preservation of traditional techniques and fostering innovation in designs.
