Governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, led the announcement of the expansion of operations of the Continental company at its Plant in the Las Colinas Industrial Park and the construction of its new plant, called Las Colinas 2.
It is estimated that both projects will be ready in the first quarter of 2023, they include an investment of 210 million euros and the generation of more than 1,550 new jobs in the next three years.
Continental is a key player in the industry and one of the companies that generates the most innovation and patents in Guanajuato.
The Las Colinas 2 plant will specialize in high-tech electronic products such as electronic controls (ECUs) for brakes and suspension systems, which will help improve the safety of the vehicle by working twice as fast as traditional brake systems.
The new Las Colinas 2 plant will have a total area of 12,600 square meters and the expansion project of more than 7,500 square meters of space for the production floor, warehouses and offices of Las Colinas 1, adding to the 16,500 square meters it currently has.
“With this announcement, Guanajuato is also consolidated as the best investment pole in Mexico. It confirms our state as an industrial power, which is advancing with a firm step in its transition to Mindfacture”, said Rodriguez Vallejo.
“A transition that is supported by world-class companies such as Continental, a German firm that has been in Guanajuato for almost 20 years, with two successful plants that employ more than 4,000 people. Continental is a company with which Guanajuato shares its vision of the future”, said the Governor.
Continental’s main customers are most of the original equipment manufacturers (OEMS) in the world, and Ford is its majority customer.
In this plant, the brake pedal interface, electric motor, foot pedal simulator, brake fluid level switch, electric control unit with sensors, and hydraulic control unit with control valves will be manufactured.
The technology company of German origin, founded in 1871, offers solutions for vehicles and machinery, circulation and transport.
