Guanajuato/Gto News

Two months after its implementation, the Operational Coordination strategy of the New Anti-Crime Intelligence Force -CONFIA- has recorded significant progress in building a safer Guanajuato and in reducing crimes such as robbery of transporters and intentional homicides.

With intelligence, coordination and proximity as the axes, the most pressing challenges in terms of security have been faced and actions have been implemented to combat crime while rebuilding the trust of families and strengthening the bond of authorities and people of Guanajuato.

Although October was a complex month in terms of intentional homicides with 307 victims, in November the number was reduced to 255, making it the second month of the year with the fewest records. This reduction of 16.94% was achieved thanks to work mainly with municipal police, through strategic patrols and various land and air operations by the State Public Security Forces -FSPE-, with the National Guard and the National Defense Secretary -Sedena-.

In addition, the CONFIA strategy achieved a 54.79% reduction in robberies of federal transport on Guanajuato highways, from 188 cases in October to 85 in November. This progress is also a result of the restructuring of the State Highway Police of the FSPE, which reinforced surveillance in critical points through police intelligence, investigation and a new operational regionalization.

The newly created Undersecretary of Operations Intelligence participated in the integration of 26 investigation files related to crimes such as theft of federal auto transport, hydrocarbons and organized crime.

Through the Undersecretary of Operational Intelligence and the Undersecretary of Public Security, the police performed 17,481 seizures including, 10 handguns, 9 long guns, 214 cartridges, 10,194 doses of crystal meth, 4,262 of marijuana, 970 of cocaine, 1,244 of base crak, 45 vehicles, 87 motorcycles, 15 tractor-trailers and 14 dry vans. This also includes the arrest of 417 people for various crimes.

Security is also reinforced from the air. In these two months, the Arcangeles and Tornado aircraft carried out 96 patrol flights as part of their prevention, reconnaissance and reaction tasks. Of these 24 reconnaissance flights were carried out in support of the National Guard in the municipality of Celaya by the Arcangeles, while the Tornados carried out two preventive patrols to protect the area of El Rincon.

The new Anti-Extortion Squad participated in 10 cases related to extortion and virtual kidnapping, providing support, advice and operational actions to safeguard the integrity of the victims and facilitate investigations.

One of them occurred on October 29 in Irapuato, where 10 young tennis players and their coach were located and protected, after being the victims of a virtual kidnapping.

The Anti-Extortion Squad also acted in situations reported by owners of commercial establishments and warehouses in municipalities such as Leon, Celaya and San Miguel de Allende. Actions included recommendations to file complaints, preventive patrols, monitoring in specific areas and follow up on lines of investigation.

These actions are in addition to the extraordinary operations implemented in the 10 regions, focused on preserving security and order at mass events and activities with a high social impact.

These events include the International Cervantino Festival in Guanajuato, the Buen Fin in the 46 municipalities , the International Balloon Festival in Leon, the Agro-Food Expo in Irapuato, as well as the Vineyards Rally and the Triathlon, both in San Miguel de Allende, in which no losses were reported.

Between the State Center for Social Prevention of Violence and Crime and the General Directorate of Social Engagement and Participation, 2,366 actions have been carried out in October and November, impacting 189,802 Guanajuatenses from the 46 municipalities.

There have been training activities (trainings, conferences, forums, talks, workshops, information modules, among other), with themes such as culture of reporting, culture of legality, prevention of gender violence, prevention in social networks, violence in the school environment, culture of road education, and exchange of war toys.

Cultural, social and sporting activities are also highlighted, all linked to themes focused on prevention. Each result of the CONFIA strategy reinforces the commitment to build a State where families can live in peace. From operations and seizures to work with neighborhood committees and schools, each effort is focused on protecting those who need it most.

The Secretary for Security and Peace, announced that it will continue working very closely, firm and with empathy, because security is a commitment that is built every day.
