The Secretary of Security and Peace of Guanajuato announced that the state strategy CONFIA (Operational Coordination of the New Anti-Crime Intelligence Force), under the leadership of Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, continues to consolidate historic results in the weakening of criminal structures and the protection of Guanajuatenses.
According to preliminary figures from the National Security Roundtable, September closed with 150 victims of intentional homicide, the lowest number recorded in Guanajuato in the last eight years. This represents a 47% reduction compared to September 2024, when 282 cases were recorded.
The daily average went from 9.4 homicides in September 2024 to 5 in September 2025, consolidating four consecutive months of downward trends.
In September, 127 ministerial orders were fulfilled, reflecting a police force that is also investigating today, with figures unprecedented in previous administrations.
In terms of seizures, 68,727 doses of drugs (marijuana, plants, crystal meth, psychotropic pills, cocaine base, cocaine, and cannabinoids) were seized, with a value of 7.7 million pesos.
Thirty-five firearms were also seized, representing a 130% increase in handguns and a 1,100% increase in long-range weapons, reflecting the ongoing fight against organized crime. In addition, 2,355 cartridges were seized, a 398% increase compared to September of last year.
Regarding assets and property linked to crimes, 213 units (motorcycles, vehicles, and tractor-trailers) were seized, compared to 86 recovered in the same month in 2024, representing a 147% increase.
In September, the Anti-Extortion Squad responded to 165 requests for support: 141 telephone reports and 24 in-person assistance. As a result, 27 extortion cases were investigated, five virtual kidnappings were addressed, with four individuals located, and 24 investigation files were opened, criminals were prevented from obtaining 1.6 million pesos through extortion and virtual kidnappings in September.
Combined, all operational actions during the month —from seizures of merchandise and drugs to recovered hydrocarbons and foiled extortions— prevented criminals from receiving more than 41.5 million pesos.
The assessment of the first year of the Government of Guanajuato shows even more compelling results. Overall, during the current State Ddministration (from September 26, 2024, to September 30, 2025), 44 judicial orders and 743 ministerial orders have been fulfilled, with 4,140 arrests (34% more) and 3,086 people detained (36% more), including 54 high-impact perpetrators of violence.
The accumulated amount of money lost to crime during this first year now totals more than 271 million pesos, resulting from the recovery of seized merchandise, hydrocarbons, and drugs, as well as the amounts avoided through extortion cases.
