The Secretary of Public Security of Guanajuato, through the State Coordination of Civil Protection, asks citizens to take extreme precautions and stay in safe areas in the presence of the “icy wave generated by the front cold number 19 and its Arctic air mass” over Guanajuato and other states of the Country.
According to the report of the General Coordination of the National Meteorological Service, these weather phenomena will enter the North of Mexico and will move to the north and northeast with intervals of showers in the northeast and east of the country.
The cold front number 19 and its Arcticair mass will cause low temperatures that will affect the North East, Center, East and South East of Mexico, with temperatures below zero degrees Celsius and frost.
The States where this weather phenomenon will be felt the most are Guanajuato, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, Tamaulipas, Durango, San Luis Potosi, Aguascalientes, Queretaro, Hidalgo, Puebla, State of Mexico, Mexico City, Oaxaca, Chiapas and Veracruz.
There will be notable drops in temperature and the production of a very strong and intense ‘North’ phenomenon, with gusts of 80 to 100 km/h.
Intense to torrential rains are expected in the states of Veracruz, Tabasco, Oaxaca and Chiapas, in addition to very heavy rains in Campeche, Yucatan and Quintana from Friday, December 23 to Monday, December 26.
The National Coordination of Civil Protection calls for extreme precautions in Veracruz, Oaxaca, Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatan and Quintana Roo, since rains are forecast in very strong, intense and torrential ranges, which could increase the levels of rivers, streams and cause flooding and landslides in low areas.
