This morning the business ecosystem of Guanajuato took a decisive step toward a more inclusive and competitive economy with the official launch of the Exporters Forum, an initiative that seeks to strengthen the role of women entrepreneurs in foreign trade. The event will take place on October 23 and will be a space for inspiration, training, and global connection.

In Guanajuato, women entrepreneurs have demonstrated steady growth in their participation in foreign trade, consolidating their position as a fundamental pillar of the local economy and job creation. However, they still face significant challenges, such as access to international markets, visibility of their achievements, and equal opportunities in the business world.

Aware of this situation, the State Government, through the Coordinator for the Promotion of Foreign Trade (COFOCE), is promoting the Exportadoras initiative, a strategy that seeks to highlight the success stories of women who lead exporting companies, provide them with recognition through WEConnect International certification.

“We knew that a new economic era of great challenges was about to begin, but also an era of great opportunities, opportunities brilliantly disguised as unsolvable problems, launching Exportadoras is an honor for me. At COFOCE we are clear that economic development starts from within and is something that totally transforms realities. Our governor, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, has asked us to bring development to every corner of Guanajuato. Foro Exportadoras is not just another program; it is a clear vision of the People’s Government that seeks to position our women and their companies on a global scale through WE CONNECT,” said Luis Rojas Avila, director of COFOCE.

Ana Gutierrez, president of the Leon chapter of 10,000 Women for Mexico , noted, “From the trenches of chambers and business associations, I have seen the enormous potential we have as an organized civil society to bring about major changes; we just have to know how to do it.”

Ixchel Alcantara, Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean at WEConnect International, explained the value of this global accreditation, which connects women-led companies with large corporate buyers in more than 120 countries. “It is a matter of connecting both parties. We are a tool for value chains, but always reach out to the chambers of commerce in your sector.”

Cristian Jaen, Global Manager of Sustainability and Procurement Risk at Bayer, shared a presentation on how diverse sourcing is now a global priority for multinational companies.

The Guanajuatense businesswoman Yannet Gonzalez, founder of ESPAZIO, offered an inspiring account of her journey toward accreditation with WEConnect, supported by COFOCE, demonstrating that local talent is ready to compete in the world’s most demanding markets.

The Exporters Forum aims to achieve WEConnect certification for at least 50 women exporters during the October 23 event, as well as impact at least 500 businesswomen and entrepreneurs through presentations and business meetings. This initiative is part of a comprehensive vision to consolidate a more equitable business ecosystem, where economic growth is closely linked to social well-being.

The invitation is for all women who wish to transform their entrepreneurial vision into a global reality.
