COFOCE closes 2023 with a report of 35,751 million dollars in exports from Guanajuato

Guanajuato closed with 35,751 million dollars in exports at the end of December 2023, breaking a record by surpassing the historical figure for 2022 and increasing it by 7.3 percent.
In 2022 Guanajuato registered its historical maximum with 32 billion dollars in exports and taking the 5th position as an exporting state in the country.
“The great news is that the closure above 35 billion dollars is real, it is a historic closure, a growth never seen before and that today Guanajuato is consolidating as one of the largest exporters States in Mexico, maintaining a growth of 7.3 percent compared to 2022,” commented Luis Rojas, Director of COFOCE.
MSMEs represent the majority of the companies in Guanajuato’s export registry, which currently exceeds 1,900 companies.
The shares of exports in percentages are:
- Large companies with 12 percent
- Medium-sized companies with 25 percent
- Small companies with 24 percent
- Micro companies with 39 percent
From January to December 2023, the registry of exporting companies in Guanajuato registers 1,980 companies.
“In the almost 32 years that the Coordinator for the Promotion of Foreign Trade is about to complete, we are doubling the registry of exporting companies. For nearly five years, a register of approximately one thousand exporting companies was maintained and in just these five and a half years we have already managed to double the list of exporting companies, for the first time we have two thousand”, Luis Rojas said.
The growth of export numbers:
- In processed products registers 418 million dollars, 8.6 percent compared to 2022
- Rubber and manufacturing, 857 million dollars, 5.7 percent more
- Frozen products, 658 million dollars, 8 percent more, this represents 40 percent of the national industry
- Leather goods and clothing accessories, 110 million dollars, a 17 percent increase
- Autoparts, 7 million dollars, 9.6 percent more
- Aerospace registered 16 million dollars, a 21 percent increase
- Machinery and equipment 856 million dollars with 5.4 percent more
- Household appliances with 252 million dollars, which represents a 3 percent increase
- Health and beauty with 917 million dollars and a 2.9 percent increase
- Hats registered 55 million dollars, 19 percent more compared to 2022 and 22% of the entire industry in Mexico
The state has 37 exporting municipalities and the main destinations are:
- United States with 83 percent of export destinations
- Canada with 8.12
- Colombia, China, Brazil, Germany, Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Japan and Australia
Luis Rojas informed that “COFOCE will continue to work hand in hand with Guanajuato businessmen so that Guanajuato’s exports continue to grow, and we manage to maintain constant growth”.
