Civil Protection enforces the assistance plan to Guanajuatenses

The Secretary of Security and Peace, through the State Coordination of Civil Protection, will maintain monitoring in the 46 municipalities during the winter season

The People’s Government, through the State Coordination of Civil Protection, is already enforcing its action plan for the winter season to protect all Guanajuatense residents and visitors. 

During the Fifth Ordinary Session of the Civil Protection Council, the ‘Special Civil Protection Program for the attention of Hydrometeorological Phenomena originating from the Winter Season 2025-2026’ was approved.

The State Coordination reported that 48 cold fronts are expected to arrive in Guanajuato, and given the record of extreme temperatures, a total of 737 localities in five municipalities were identified as priority monitoring points, since they historically register sub-zero temperatures. 

These communities are located in:

• Penjamo, Valle de Santiago, Guanajuato, San Luis de La Paz and San Miguel de Allende

Juan Mauro Gonzalez, Secretary of Security and Peace, highlighted the work done by the PC operation staff during the December season and until the end of winter. 

“The police work is given a lot of visibility, but behind these festivities, there is always a great deal of work that you do, that you lead,” he noted. 

The State Agency reported that there will be 141 temporary shelters, as well as monitoring and coordination with municipal Civil Protection offices for the transfer of people who require it, with a capacity of 25,580 people throughout Guanajuato.  

The Civil Protection Coordination invites citizens to learn about prevention and self-protection measures, as well as to monitor official channels to find out about forecasts and the evolution of the winter season.
