Renowned chefs of international stature praise the gastronomy of Guanajuato. On June 21 and 22, twelve chefs share the kitchen in restaurants in three municipalities in Guanajuato
This gastronomic festival is part of the Guanajuato ¡Sí Sabe! Public Policy

Six Guanajuato chefs share the kitchen with six renowned Mexican chefs recognized by the Michelin Guide and the 50 BEST list, will prepare 12 pairing dinners with native and characteristic ingredients of Guanajuato in restaurants in Leon and the two World Heritage Cities: Guanajuato Capital and San Miguel de Allende.
In Mexico City, Juan Jose Alvarez Brunel, Secretary of Tourism of the State of Guanajuato, with Carlos Elizondo and Consuelo Elipe, Directors of E&E Consulting, presented the second edition of “Endemico, the Culinary Footprint”, a gastronomic festival that will be held on June 21 and 22 in renowned restaurants in the three cities.
“In Guanajuato we recognize our heritage and exalt our inherited history that is in continuous evolution. Guanajuato does know about flavor and holds gastronomic events that have become iconic; There are people who come to Guanajuato and whose first reason for traveling is gastronomy,” said Alvarez Brunel.
This delicious event -which is part of “Guanajuato ¡Sí Sabe!”, a Public Policy that promotes gastronomic events that highlight the endemic ingredients of Guanajuato- tests 12 chefs who prepare dishes with endemic products of this tourist destination such as:
- Nopal, escamoles, huitlacoche, garambullo, agave, xoconostle, chilcuague; as well as cauliflower, broccoli, strawberries, cajeta, and asparagus, among other
The Guanajuato drinks that will accompany these dishes are:
- Tequila, craft beer, wine, liqueurs, mead, and mezcal
- This pairing will be tested by more than 500 diners
“Gastronomy has allowed Guanajuato to share the table with different diners and chefs, who have recognized the culinary wealth we have. Our destinations are the perfect setting to bring together great culinary personalities who will make us live great gastronomic experiences”, added the Secretary of Tourism.
This event meets the following objectives:
- Put the highest value on the endemic ingredients of the State of Guanajuato
- Give visibility to traditional cooks and guest chefs
- Publicize the ingredients of the State with the help of prominent guest chefs in Mexico through their haute cuisine recipes and their particular vision and philosophy of gastronom.
- Bring the cuisine of the great chefs to the State’s restaurants so that the public can enjoy the ingredients of Guanajuato cooked from a different perspective
- Create alliances between local chefs and top chefs who will know Guanajuato and its ingredients, among other objectives
