Guanajuato consolidates its position as a vibrant territory of artistic and cultural creation, and the Cervantino reaffirms its position as one of the main platforms for the international projection of art and culture in Mexico

The 53rd edition of the International Cervantino Festival has come to a close, leaving an indelible legacy in the State of Guanajuato.
This achievement was made possible thanks to the participation of 926 Guanajuatense artists in various disciplines and the inter-institutional collaboration of 1,200 collaborators, including artists, technicians, and support staff from more than 20 agencies who worked tirelessly to make this event a reality.
In 2025, the festival recorded a preliminary attendance of 330,000 people across all events held in both Guanajuato City and other municipalities, representing a 79% increase compared to 2024.
The estimated economic impact reached $442.4 million pesos, reflecting the cultural and tourism dynamism generated by this event.
During the 17 days of activities, the city of Guanajuato recorded an average hotel occupancy of 50%, with the arrival of more than 69,000 tourists, a 16% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
The festival also attracted visitors from 11 states of Mexico, who enjoyed the cultural and tourist attractions that distinguish Guanajuato.
Innovative projects and international collaborations were presented, highlighting the creativity and talent of local artists in 19 venues. The event attracted 207,080 people who enjoyed the events, as well as academic activities in 22 forums, including the Cervantes Lecture and the University of Guanajuato Film Club, with a participation of 47,479 people.

The Guanajuato State Music Band joined international artists such as Chula The Clown and Perpoc, as well as productions by the Bicentennial Theater Choir, Vientos Musicales de la Gente, the Comonfort Choir, and singer Sindy Gutiérrez.
Also fundamental was the participation of other local groups and artists. This talent occupied emblematic spaces such as the Alhondiga de Granaditas, the Juarez Theater, and the Plaza de San Roque, among other, reaffirming that the Cervantino is, above all, a celebration of the people and the art that is born and raised in Guanajuato.
The Ruelas Project was another example of the festival’s ability to engage communities and foster citizen participation. The People’s Stage was a space where the cultural diversity of Guanajuato was present.
The visual arts also had a prominent presence during the 53rd edition of the International Cervantino Festival.
In 2025, Veracruz and the United Kingdom, guests of honor, had a prominent presence in the program with nine important exhibitions, including Diego Rivera and his relationship with Veracruz and Wildlife Photographer of the Year.
