The Secretary of Culture of Guanajuato , through the Undersecretary of Community Development and Heritage Promotion, invites girls, boys, adolescents and the general public to participate in Science Week, which will take place from Tuesday, October 21 to Friday, October 24 at the Wigberto Jimenez Moreno State Central Library.

This activity is designed to foster interest in science and technology among all ages, combining talks, workshops, lectures, interactive experiences, and bibliographical samples.

This week, children, adolescents, and the general public will be able to explore topics such as biodiversity, physics, chemistry, astronomy, and climate change through dynamic and innovative activities.

Highlights include talks on life and biodiversity given by Yann Rene Ramos of the University of Guanajuato, as well as sustainability and science workshops for young people led by UNAM-Leon.

Hands-on physics experiences will also be offered, such as building and launching space rockets, and guided astronomy explorations with a virtual planetarium and telescopes.

The program also includes recreational and sensory activities that seek to make science accessible and fun. Attendees will enjoy musical lectures and tastings, such as “The Traces of Coffee” with Leon de Marco, as well as editorial presentations focused on the cosmos, such as the launch of the book Kaboom! Exploring the Mysteries of the Universe, led by Astrophysicists in Action.

Astronomy activities will allow participants to observe the starry sky and learn about phenomena such as the phases of the moon and space mining, led by specialists from the University of Guanajuato and the Center for Optics Research (CIO).

This event is established as a space for learning and family interaction, where curiosity and knowledge combine with creativity, play, and reflection on our environment.

Science Week will take place from Tuesday, October 21st to Friday, October 24th, from 10am to 7pm. Activities are free and open to the public, with sessions tailored to the age and interests of participants.

All activities can be found on the social media platforms of the Guanajuato Department of Culture and the Wigberto Jimenez Moreno State Central Library.
