The 13th edition of the Catrinas event, titled “The Ancestral Force in Parade” in the Night of Catrinas 2025, was held in the heart of Purisima del Rincon. During a solemn evening in the city’s main square, Mayor Roberto Garc}ia Urbano, while admiring each elaborate design, urged attendees to hold this special moment in their memory, a moment when culture brought together people of every age and background.

The parade and catwalk successfully elucidated Mexican culture and tradition. Beyond a simple Day of the Dead celebration, the event served as an act of reaffirming Purisimense identity, where the elaborate attire, makeup, and poise showcased the enduring strength of the town’s roots in the city center. The Mayor was with members of the Honorable City Council.

The gathering featured 50 groups and institutions, with 295 participants, including children, adolescents, young adults, parents, friends, and neighbors, all of whom formed a cheering crowd. It created a vibrant canvas of creativity dedicated to the day’s most emblematic figures: La Catrina and her male counterpart, El Catrin, in diverse and striking representations.

The costumes utilized materials ranging from newspaper clippings to corn husks, retaining their natural field color. To conclude the evening, actress Maria del Carmen Felix presented a poetry session, bidding farewell to the visitors with an intriguing and powerful session of stories alluding to the occasion.

With their performance, actors and actresses reaffirmed the indissoluble link between death and the iconic character, declaring that “death completely accompanies the Catrina,” and delivering a memorable message about the acceptance and proximity of the skeletal figure in Mexican life.

The Noche de Catrinas 2025 successfully illuminated the Day of the Dead festivities, keeping Mexico’s cultural legacy alive in Purisima del Rincon, a town that truly transcends through its people.
