The Secretary of Tourism, Juan Jose Alvarez Brunel, met with mayors of Guanajuato capital, San Felipe, Dolores Hidalgo CIN, San Luis de la Paz and Comonfort, to conserve, disseminate and maintain a link with tourism on the “Camino Real Tierra Adentro” (CRTA), Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
In reunions in Guanajuato City and in Dolores Hidalgo CIN, the Secretary of Tourism, with Olga Hernandez Flores, director of INAH Guanajuato, called the mayors: Alejandro Navarro Saldana, Eduardo Maldonado Garcia, Adrian Hernandez Alejandri, Luis Gerardo Sanchez Sanchez, and Claudio Santoyo Cabello to preserve the heritage and create a State Management Unit.
Camino Real de Tierra Adentro -used between the 16th and 19th centuries-, which involves 7 municipalities of Guanajuato, covers a total of 2,600 kilometers from Mexico City to Santa Fe and was used, at the time, for trade, traditions, exploitation, but also for integration itself.
The cultural itinerary of the also known as “Camino de la Plata” was registered in the UNESCO World Heritage list -in 2010-, comprising in 1,400 kilometers (of its total dimension) 60 sites with declaration , of which, 6 are in Guanajuato, that is, 10%.
The Secretary identified that, in San Felipe, Ocampo, Dolores Hidalgo CIN, San Luis de la Paz, Comonfort, Guanajuato capital and San Miguel de Allende, there are cattle ranches, bridges, cobblestones and dams, a very important collection that offers the possibility of having a narrative of the Camino Real.
“In Guanajuato we have very relevant sites that we can incorporate into tourism products that will link us with tour operators in the value chain and provide tourists with complete experiences based on the strategic line of sustainable development of destinations,” said Juan Jose Alvarez Brunell.
