With enthusiasm and pride, the Secretary of Education of Guanajuato (SEG) recognized the effort and academic excellence of 46 sixth-grade elementary school students who earned the highest scores in the 2025 Children’s Knowledge Olympiad (OCI) in the State.

The event was a celebration of academic achievement, with each student receiving an honorable mention and the announcement of a monthly scholarship of 2,000 pesos. This scholarship will contribute to continuing their secondary education, provided they maintain a minimum GPA of 8.0.

On behalf of the Secretary of Education, Luis Ignacio Sanchez Gomez, the Under Secretary of Basic Education, Guadalupe Valenzuela Rios, congratulated the finalists and their families for the support they provided throughout their academic careers. “We are recognizing all the effort, commitment, and discipline they put into their studies every day. Today, in their suitcases, they carry the necessary tools to successfully navigate the next stage of their education, secondary school,” said Valenzuela Rios.

The Under Secretary added that this achievement positions the awardees as transformative leaders in Guanajuato: “With brilliant minds and strong hearts, they will make great changes in their lives and those around them.”

On behalf of the recognized students, Aranza Victoria Juarez Juarez delivered a heartfelt message of gratitude to the education authorities, the BBVA Foundation, and, especially, to the parents: “This award is the result of six years of effort, dedication, and the loving support of our families. Today we close a cycle with satisfaction, thanking our teachers and the SEG (Secretary of Education) for providing us with the necessary tools to get here.”

Nestor Miguel Zavala, representing Martha Lilia Serrano Munguia, Director of Institutional Banking at BBVA, also participated in the event. He said: “Each of you represent the talent and determination that Mexico needs. This scholarship is not a point of arrival, but rather the beginning of new opportunities. At BBVA, we believe that when talent meets the right conditions, a state and a country move forward.”

The Children’s Knowledge Olympiad is a national competition held since 1961 to assess and recognize the academic excellence of sixth-grade primary school students and CONAFE third-level students. For two days, the finalist students participated in the 2025 OCI Academic Merit Recognition Day, which included cultural, recreational, and social activities, fostering pride, inspiration, and a sense of community.
