The conditions are right for the Gran Bajio to once again become a logistics center with Data Centers, said the Governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, as the Mexican Association of Data Centers -MEXDC- was launched.
It is an organization that will act as a spokesperson for the Data Centers sector, promote and guarantee its image and economic importance, strengthening Mexico in the development of this industry.
These companies, said the Governor, require energy and human capital, and in the Bajio education institutions work to have trained personnel for all industries.
“We are going to be able to create the perfect cluster to have a relationship that will last many years and will concentrate, in the near future, the largest number of Data Centers in Latin America; we are ready and preparing for it”, said the Governor.
“The economy that we want today is the one that will generate wealth from the mind and not only from physical effort, we are going to work together so that this Great Bajio continues to be a benchmark for economic growth,” said the Governor.
Rodriguez Vallejo also said that Guanajuato is the area where you have to invest, because it is the part of the country that is going to grow.
“We are very clear about the course, it is to go from manufacturing to the Mindfacture and it can be achieved with technology and information companies like the ones you represent; we are going to grow together, you as a company and we as a State”

In Guanajuato, Layer 9 Data Center is already present, it is an American company with more than 50 years of experience, which has an investment of 800 million dollars in the State, in a first hyperscale project, and soon it will be the largest Data Center in Mexico and Latin America.
Layer 9 Mexico will soon join the transition from manufacturing to Mindfacture that is promoted in Guanajuato with innovation and entrepreneurship as the State’s DNA and will offer 2,500 jobs.
“The geographical location of Guanajuato has historically been important, and it will be in the future in the case of the information technology and Data Centers,” said the State Governor.
Mexico is one of the countries that is already within the data center sector and can achieve a continental and global leadership position; and in the case of El Bajio, it is fertile land and is one of the areas of greatest interest for this industry.
Adriana Rivera Cerejado, Executive Director of the MEXDC, said that this association will promote and develop the data industry with the collaboration of members of the Association and its suppliers, will strengthen national economic growth and position the sector with the government, academy, media and society.
It will also promote the digital transformation of Mexican society, enabling equal opportunities and improving people’s quality of life, as well as the country’s economic growth.
The founding members of the MEXDC are:
