30 Guanajuatense artists beneficiaries of the latest Program of Incentives to Creation and Artistic Development –PECDA- met for the first time face to face in the presentation of honors in the Museum Palace of Powers.

The new cycle

The ceremony, that marks the start of the new cycle of artistic creation under PECDA was led by Hector Jimenez Lopez, general coordinator of PECDA in the Secretary of Culture and Laura Gabriela Corvera Galvan, director of Artistic Formation of the State Institute of Culture, also Jorge Moreno Salazar, member of the selection comittee and a tutor in the discipline of music.

Reponsibility, love and care

In his message to the artists, Jorge Moreno noted the nature of PECDA: a program of incentives of artistic creation paid by tax payers. “It is relevant that we remember where the money comes from. Let’s not forget that when we are doing our projects. We should do it with responsibility, love and care, because the work you are doing will be part of the cultural treasure not only of Guanajuato but of all of Mexico”, said Moreno.

Art and resistance

On the part of the benefited creators Gustavo Emmanuel Alvarez Lugo noted the opportunity offered by the resources of PECDA to generate creative sinergies and of making true what the philosopher Gilles Deleuze called it: “Art is resistance”.

Young artists

This time PECDA supports projects by 3 Creator Teenagers; 12 by Young Creators and 13 by Creators with Trajectory in arts like painting, music, dance, literature and visual media and alternative art. Also among beneficiaries there are two projects of promotion and investigation of the cultural patrimony of Guanajuato.
