The Ministry of Health, through Health Jurisdiction II, calls on the residents of San Miguel de Allende and visitors to take the necessary precautions to prevent heat stroke during the long-awaited Convite de Locos, which will be held next June 16 in honor of San Antonio de Padua.
Ligia Arce, Secretary of Health, noted the importance of enjoying this event in a safe and responsible manner. “The Convite de Locos is a tradition very loved by the people of San Miguel de Allende. We want to ensure that everyone can enjoy this event without risks to their health. Therefore, we invite the population to follow some important recommendations to avoid heat stroke”, said Arce.
Health Jurisdiction No. II recommends:
- Constantly hydrate yourself: With the heat it is essential to stay hydrated. Drink water regularly, avoid alcoholic, excessively sweet or caffeinated drinks
- Protect yourself from the sun: Use sunscreen, a hat, and cool clothing to protect yourself from UV rays. Seek shade when possible
- Dress appropriately: Opt for light, breathable clothing. Avoid tight-fitting, dark-colored clothing that retains heat
- Avoid heat stroke: Recognize symptoms such as dizziness, fatigue and headache. If you experience them, find a cool place, hydrate, and seek medical help if necessary
- Take care of the most vulnerable: Pay special attention to children and the elderly. Make sure they have access to enough water and a cool place to rest
The Ministry of Health reiterates its commitment to the health and well-being of Guanajuatenses and invites everyone to follow these recommendations to avoid heat-related incidents during the event.
