All are called to create the anthem of Guanajuato

The anthem must represent the past, the present and the future of Guanajuato, its identity and pride

The Celebrations Commission for the 200 years of Guanajuato as a Free and Sovereign Federative State, calls to participate in the Contest for the Creation of the Anthem of the State of Guanajuato.

The call that opened on December 8, 2023 and ends on March 31, 2024, aims to create an Anthem that exalts Guanajuato and that stands as a symbol of identity, civic values, union, respect and culture of the people of Guanajuato.

It must be dedicated to ennobling and acclaim Guanajuato as a Federal State, considering elements such as its beauty, geography, territory; heroes and heroines; its ideals, its libertarian conquests and democratic consciousness, as well as its vision of the future, in order to strengthen the feeling of belonging and the identity of Guanajuato.

Composers, writers, musicians and creative people who are Guanajuatenses by birth, descent or neighborhood (at least two years in Guanajuato) may participate.

Those interested may participate individually or as a team; lyrics and music must be submitted.

The composition of the Guanajuato Anthem must integrate the following aspects:

• The lyrics and music must be original and unpublished, adjusted to the structure of the anthem
• The lyrics must be written in Spanish, in verse to give it expressiveness and poetic composition, as well as organized in stanzas, at least three and a maximum of six; in addition to having a chorus or refrain
• The lyrics and music will refer to the joy, enthusiasm and celebration of the State and may not contain mentions that incite hatred, violence, division and discrimination
• The duration for its interpretation and execution should be 3 to 5 minutes

A version for piano and voice will be mandatory. Optionally, a version for orchestra (woodwinds for two). The winner of the contest will be awarded a prize consisting of recognition and a prize for $200,000.00.
