In order to strengthen the tourist offer in Leon and in Guanajuato, the Bajio Aquarium is transformed into Sealand Leon, an innovative project that promises to take visitors to an experience that is unique in its kind.
This was announced by Yunuen Stephanie Jimenez Mejia, Director of Public Relations of the Secretary of Tourism of the State of Guanajuato, representing Juan Jose Alvarez Brunel, Secretary of Tourism; Andrea Osorio Naranjo, general manager of Sealand Leon; Jose de Jesus Gonzalo Garcia Perez, Undersecretary of Basic Education of Guanajuato; Edgar Mondragin, director of Grupo Aryba; Guido Benassini, director of Ventura Entertainment; and Yasmin Quiroz Lopez, director of Hospitality and Tourism of Leon.
With a presence in Guadalajara and Monterrey, Sealand arrives in Leon to offer a concept of adventure, fun and knowledge; This brand belongs to Ventura Entertainment, a group recognized for dedicating itself to developing and operating all categories of amusement parks in the industry.
The transformation of the Bajio Aquarium includes an additional 2,000 square meters to those already in operation; that is, the size of the experience is doubled. Now there are 5 fantastic worlds: Bermuda Triangle, Turtle Island, Amazonia, Desertika and Polar Expedition -Arctic and Antarctic-.
This project includes:
- Virtual Reality: Black Dragon that will take the visitor on a search for the lost treasure
- Laser Maze, is a one hundred percent interactive activity that tests the skill and abilities
- Snow Play where you will be able to play with real snow
- Ramp where visitors can slide into adventure
Also a new species was added to the exhibition:
- Chinstrap Penguins, this species -from Antarctica, the highest, driest, windiest and coldest continent in the world- will help us learn more about its environment and curiosities about its feeding, reproduction and way of life
Since the opening of the Bajio Aquarium, in August 2017, more than 70,000 visitors have been received approximately per year, mainly from Aguascalientes, Queretaro, San Luis Potosi and Michoacan. This initial project was created to generate passion, interest and awareness towards the wonders of the marine and aquatic world; bringing visitors closer to species such as sharks, rays, jellyfish, among others, for the first time.
In addition, this project has also been a benchmark for school groups by having the “Learning Territory” insignia, awarded by the Guanajuato Secretary of Education.
Now, after 6 years of history, the Aquarium takes an important step towards an exciting transformation that will mark a before and after with Sealand.
