The eyes of the world were positioned again on Guanajuato during Wine Week 2024, as international oenology events were held.
Guanajuato handed over the baton to Ningxia, China, as the venue for the 2025 Brussels World Contest.
Wine Week 2024 was held from June 4 to 9 at various headquarters of Guanajuato, with the Third Wine Congress of the State of Guanajuato, the Brussels World Competition and the second edition of “Live the Wine”.
“I am proud of these events, thanks to the wine-tasters, they are the essence and soul of this great contest”, said the Governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo.
“Much success for the next headquarters, in Guanajuato we tried to set the bar high so that everything would be a success,” said the Governor.
During the week, the Third Wine Congress of the State of Guanajuato was held at the Poliforum Leon, where national and international experts discussed the advances and challenges of the wine industry.
There, members of the Mexican Wine Council and industry suppliers met in an excellent opportunity to do networking.
This Congress was organized by the Guanajuato Grape and Wine Association, which brings together 33 producers from the municipalities of San Felipe, Comonfort, Dolores Hidalgo, San Francisco del Rincon, San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato capital.
The tastings, pairings, workshops and wine talks were held with ‘Vive el Vino 2024’, where more than 80 national and international exhibitors participated, before an influx of more than 2 thousand visitors, who also had the opportunity to enjoy a concert with Filippa Giordano and Daniel Boaventura.
But what called more the attention at Vive el Vino 2024 was achieving the Guinness record with the largest wine glass in the world.
The best, no questions, was the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, which for the second time in its history went out of Europe and was held in Guanajuato.
In this competition, from June 6 to 9, 450 specialist tasting judges from around the world evaluated more than 7,500 labels from the best wineries and vineyards in 54 countries, in addition to 671 wines from Mexico, of which 117 were from Guanajuato.
Governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, handed the baton for the next edition of the Brussels World Contest to Li Quancai, mayor of the city of Yinchuan, in Ningxia, China. “We are honored to fully participate in this event and gain in-depth knowledge.
“Ningxia has been recognized by the International Vine and Wine Organization”, said the mayor of Yinchuan.
