With the awards ceremony of the “Creare” International Fashion and Design Contest, the central events of “Guanajuato inspiration that dresses, November fashion month” were closed.
This event, considered one of the most prominent in Mexico, represents the commitment of the State Government to continue strengthening key sectors such as:
- Leather-footwear, textile-clothing, leather goods, headgear, among others
The effort is to make these sectors more competitive in the current economic environment through incorporating value through fashion and design.
Froylan Salas Navarro, Undersecretary for the Development of MSMEs of the Secretary of Sustainable Economic Development -SDES-, representing Secretary Ramon Alfaro Gomez, said that these first 17 years of “Creare” have left an extraordinary seedbed that positions Guanajuato as a nerve center for the fashion industry both at a national and international level.
Salas said that in the current administration of Governor Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, this sector represents just over 7.2% of the generation of wealth in Guanajuato.
“We are a state where the main factor of development and strength is the diversification of economic sectors, we are a strong economy, thriving for the development and integration of more economic units, therefore, we continue to advance in this strategy.”
The central goal of this contest is to consolidate Guanajuato as a generator of local brands with high quality products, betting heavily on design.
Participants, in addition to having the opportunity to develop their own company or link up with an existing one, gain experience beyond conceptualization by being provided with exhibition spaces and catwalks so that their brands can achieve projection and positioning.
This year, the contest had the participation of 953 entrepreneurs, students and designers who presented works focused on the combination of two macrotrends:
- “Metaverse” and “Silent Luxury”
The winners of this seventeenth edition are:
- Finished Product Category: Patricia Yanet Gonzalez
- Outfit Category: Sofia Montoya
Over the years, “Creare” and the “November Fashion Month” strategy have established themselves as mandatory references in Mexico to promote the fashion and design industry, the result of continuous work and an international vision.
