Guanajuato has some 6,500 historical places in all 46 municipalities of the State

The Governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo supervised the remodeling of the Manuel Doblado Theater, with an investment of 42.6 million pesos in a joint investment State-Municipality.
141 years of history
“I am proud of being part in the refurbishing of this historical place in Gua najuato”, said the State Governor as he was at the place with the Mayor of Leon Hector Lopez Santillana.
The Governor noted that this year the Manuel Doblado Theater celebrates 141 years of its foundation, confirming the vocation towards historical and cultural greatness of Guanajuatenses.
A State full of history
The Governor noted that in all the 46 municipalities in Guanajuato there are places of historical and cultural patrimony that makes them unique, either in their natural, historical, architectural, traditions or cultural patrimony.
That is why, said the Governor, the National Historical Monuments Catalogue for the State of Guanajuato, has some 6,500 historical sites all over the State, and one of those sites is precisely the Manuel Doblado Theater.
A historical place
Rodriguez Vallejo said that the commitment of the State Government is to keep supporting the refurbishing of the Theater, with all its beauty and its position as a national historical piece.
The Mayor Hector Lopez Santillana thanked for the support to putt he Theater in good shape an action that in total will require 95 million pesos.
Since 1880
The Theater was inaugurated on September 15th 1880. Its name is in honor of General Manuel Doblado, former military man and Governor in the times of the Juarez Government.
Great actors and singers were on its stage like Angela Peralta, Virginia Fabregas, Elisa de la Maza, Ricardo Costa, Juan de Dios Peza, Jaime Nuno, Julian Carrillo and Efrain Hernandez.
The place survived
In 1910 Francisco I. Madero gave a speech against reelection.
During the Revolution it was a movie theater, a corral for the horses of revolution fighters and barracks.
