Members of the Mariachi Juvenil Campero brought their music to the City Hall where they had a reunion with Mayor Alejandra Gutierrez Campos who was working with citizens at the “Citizen’s Wednesday” program.
The musicians visited the City Hall to inform the Mayor that next month they will be part of the First International Festival of Mariachi. The group of musicians will travel to Playa del Carmen in Quintana Roo, where the musical gathering will occur.
Miguel Mojica and his group of musicians sang a couple of songs in the City Hall central patio in front of tens of Leoneses who were doing some business in the place. Mayor of Leon celebrated that this group of Leones musicians go to this festival as representatives of the City and the State of Guanajuato.
“We will go to the International Festival in Quintana Roo. We were chosen to represent Guanajuato and Leon, this is the First International Festival of Mariachi”, said Miguel Mojica, who with other 14 musicians members of the mariachi Juvenil Campero will travel to the South of Mexico.
The Festival will be held in April 17 to the 20 and its goal is to promote a musical and cultural exchange to learn, promote, praise and dignify the mariachi music which has been named a Cultural Heritage.
“This is something we should preserve, because it is the essence of Mexico, mariachi Mexican music is what represents us in the world. It is a pride for us that we were invited and more so that we go representing Guanajuato and Leon”, said Mojica the leader of the mariachi from Leon.
