More than 15 thousand spectators gather at the Guanajuato Bicentennial Park to enjoy Carin Leon
For one year, 1,220 actions were carried out to celebrate 200 Years of Guanajuato

The celebrations for the 200 Years of Guanajuato as a Federative, Free and Sovereign State culminated with applause.
Friday, June 28, was the last night of celebrations and closed with the concert of regional Mexican music singer, Carin Leon, who, under the rain, delighted with his songs more than 15 thousand people who gathered on the esplanade of the Guanajuato Bicentennial Park.
In the State Capital, the Symphony Orchestra of the University of Guanajuato offered a concert at the Juarez Theater.
Celebrating 200 years:
- For one year, from June 28, 2023 to June 28, 2024, 1,220 actions were carried out to celebrate two centuries of the State of Guanajuato
- 74 concerts and cultural events
- 17 student competitions
- 250 historical, livestock, gastronomic, tourist, ecological, social and health events
- 28 exhibitions and unveilings
- 316 education activities, such as conferences, panels, workshops, congresses and forums
- 86 civic events and civic-military parades
- 27 sports events
- 171 public works, among many other activities
Guanajuato is a state that inspires Mexico, therefore, a postal stamp and a commemorative ticket of the National Lottery were issued, alluding to these celebrations.
Governor Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo declared the State Day to celebrate Guanajuato as a Free and Sovereign Federative Entity, every December 20.
Today, citizens and mainly the new generations, have a greater civic awareness and a greater pride in being Guanajuatense by going back in history with actions that promote identity, with the Seal, the Flag and the State Anthem.
A press release of the Government of the State of Guanajuato notes that, “Today Guanajuato shows its sovereignty and freedom as a Federative Entity, as a state where respect for institutions prevails and, above all, shows that it is the Greatness of Mexico; therefore, today and always, long live Guanajuato!”
