Artisans from Guanajuato have another trade opportunity in USA

The arts and crafts sector of Guanajuato is noted in the world because of its quality, diversity and colors of its products.

In 2021 a very important comercial network in the United States with more than one thousand stores, is interested in buying and selling pottery made in Guanajuato.
Jorge Godinez, Director of the Arts, Decoration and Furniture sector of COFOCE, described this trade opportunity for artisans who want to be part of this opportunity.
From gardening to dinnerware
“The opportunity goes to companies from Guanajuato that manufacture pottery of the Talavera type, it can be gardening products, pots, decorative products and dinnerware. For the companies that make dinnerware they need lead-free certificates that are valid to FDA in the US, for decorative products the certificate is not necessary”, said Godinez.
This opportunity is also valid for producers who manufacture cold pottery products, like jars, vases, pots, etc.
Training will be available for artisans
The Director of the Arts Sector of COFOCE, noted that to be part of this program manufacturers can be direct or indirect exporters and/or manufacture products with export quality.
For this program each of the artisans will be trained by COFOCE and will receive directions from the purchaser on the type of products they need.
“Once companies are selected by the purchaser they will be informed how the program works, packaging, logistics and the paperwork that is necessary for exports to be made”

Free training
Artisans will receive completely free training via visits in premises, video calls and telephone calls.
The period programmed for preparation will be from June to September of this year; after training, the company will be ready to receive purchase orders to supply the buyer in USA with its products in the firts 3 month term of 2022.

“An advantage for artisans when they join this Project is the opportunity to move up their business, take their products to an international competence level and of course an economic and social growth”, said Jorge Godinez.
“This is a unique opportunity for artisans from Guanajuato, and that is why it is important that they receive the necessary training that will take them to the next upper quality level, where innovation, diferenciation and quality will put them appart from the other”, said Godinez.
