As part of the commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the founding of Acambaro, the Governor of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, noted the history, identity and greatness of this municipality, and reiterated her permanent willingness to listen and dialogue with the different voices and visions about the future of Guanajuato.
“We will continue to move forward and listen. It is much more valuable to always listen to those voices that don’t think like us, those voices that have other ideas and visions, because that is how we enrich the course of Acambaro and Guanajuato. I will always be a Governor open to dialogue,” said Libia Dennise.
In the commemorative ceremony, the Governor highlighted the pride of celebrating five centuries of history of one of Guanajuato’s emblematic municipalities.
“What a pride and joy to participate in this commemorative ceremony for the 500th anniversary of the founding of this extraordinary municipality of Acambaro. And what better way to demonstrate this pride than by holding this grand civic celebration with the girls and boys, who are the most valuable thing we have here in Acambaro and throughout Guanajuato,” said Libia.
With Mayor Claudia Silva Campos, the Governor recalled the history of the founding of the Villa de San Francisco de Acambaro in 1526 and highlighted the historical importance that this region has had for Guanajuato.
Libia also highlighted the roots of the Chupicuaro culture and the community organization that distinguished this region from its origins, as well as the role that Acambaro has played throughout five centuries in the construction of Guanajuato’s identity.
As part of this commemoration artistic, historical, cultural, and civic activities were held. The Governor congratulated the children who participated in the drawing contest commemorating the appointment of Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla as Generalissimo of the Americas and the 500th anniversary of the founding of San Francisco de Acambaro.
“Acambaro has formed a cultural, historical and architectural heritage of which we are very proud in Guanajuato,” said Libia.
“Just as it was in 1526, today Acambaro continues to move forward with equally brave and big-hearted women and men. Acambaro was born to be great,” Libia said.
“This is a moment of profound sense of identity and belonging. Great stories of immense value to our country have been woven here; we are proud to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the founding of Acambaro,” said Mayor Mayor Claudia Silva Campos.
As part of the commemorative activities, the Governor participated in the Solemn Session of the Acambaro City Council for the 500th anniversary of its founding, held in the Founders Hall of the Parish of San Francisco de Asis.
“We will continue working hand in hand with the people of Acambaro; we will continue working as a team. Congratulations to the beautiful people of Acambaro. Here’s to building another five hundred years of history,” said Libia Dennise.
